What not to say to an adventurous pregnant woman

Catchy title, right?

I found this article in Women’s Adventure Magazine under the same title. Neither of the CITNB founders have had kids yet, but I can safely say we are both the type of women who hear “you can’t” and don’t have time to respond because we’re already doing. So with curiosity, I read the article with tips such as Don’t say:

  • Sell you [equipment] now because you’re never going to see it again!
  • You look like you’re going to pop!
  • I’ve lost my [activity] buddy!

These seemed like good examples but I have to imagine there are much more. So tell us. Adventuresome women, what should you not say to a pregnant lady?

I have hunted while pregnant with all three of my children and the final tally came to 3 antelope, 2 turkeys and 2 bucks. The last buck was during this last pregnancy and was a one shot kill at 837 yards. Basically, anything is still possible while pregnant! The most annoying thing I was ever told when pregnant was ” You know when you have kids you won’t be so fit and capable anymore.” and that was from the mouth of someone who didn’t know I already had a 5 and 6 year old. I guess it is just frustrating when someone assumes anything about you when you are pregnant and then comments accordingly. I think getting outside and getting exercise while doing what you love is the healthiest thing you can do with your pregnancy. Thanks for sharing! Might have to explore this topic more myself!

Thanks so much for the comment – love it! It’s exactly why we wanted to share this article.

Haha! I just remembered one more! A girl once told me, “We should hang out after you ‘calve’.” I am not a cow. That one kinda made me mad lol. We never hung out. :)
