In the news: Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Inaugural Women and Hunting Panel

IN-THE-NEWS

Just a few weeks ago, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers hosted their annual Rendezvous in Denver, Colorado.  Unlike other years, BHA included a women and hunting panel.  The panel was a big success with good attendance featuring Prois Hunting marketing rep Paige Hill Murphy, Extreme Huntress Amanda Lowrey, Seek Outside owner and founder Angie Timm and Camo is The New Black co-founder Whitney.  Check out this video featuring the panel:

We were proud to be a part of a panel of such high caliber women and encouraged to have a hunting and fishing organization feature women so prominently.  This is only the beginning…

Venison, AKA Bambi, Balls

Recipe

 meatball and teddy

What’s cooking?  More wild game of course! As we come together this holiday weekend with family and friends, there is no better way to celebrate than with food.  I discovered The Meatball Shop in NYC three years ago and was delighted to learn they also have wild game recipes because they have a hunter friend. Combine the butter and chocolate in the top of a double boiler and melt over medium heat...

I think it was way back in 2005.  Yup, sounds right.  My newly Alaskan family was working and playing alongside another family, in the process of figuring out how we could make a go of living up North...

Whitney and her husband Dan at the Teller Wildlife Refuge this past fall

Last week, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service announced 26 additional National Wildlife Refuges will be opened up for hunting and fishing for the first time or have opportunities expanded – this is big news!  As a sportswoman, access to hunting, fishing and other recreational opportunities is an issue that is only becoming more important in an ever urbanizing world.  Today, 335 wildlife refuges are open to regulated hunting and more than 271 wildlife complexes are open to fishing in the National Wildlife Refuge System.   Now is the time sportsmen and women band together as a $90 billion industry and protect our rights to access...
